Bourgas is the fourth biggest town in the southeast of Bulgaria and occupies the innermost part of a large bay and forms a natural harbour well-protected from the winds. Today, with its extended port and airport facilities, together with its developed railway and road network, Bourgas is a major transport centre in Bulgaria, and there are plans to build a pipeline from Bourgas to Alexandrupolis to transport oil to Greece.
